Mirrorless Camera Deals and Discounts: Panasonic GX7, Sony NEX-6 and more!

Mirrorless Camera Deals and Discounts: Panasonic GX7, Sony NEX-6 and more!

As of today, we have opened up a brand new section on MirrorLessons entitled “Mirrorless Deals” where you can find the best mirrorless camera deals and discounts on

Why do mirrorless cameras get discounted? Well, there are a number of reasons.

  • First, when a brand is about to release a successor to a given model, it has the tendency to knock down the price of the predecessor right before the announcement. And this can only be good news for us! A good example is the Fuji X-E1 whose successor is expected to arrive at the end of 2013.
  • Second, the camera may not be selling well, not because it lacks in quality but because the market is saturated with similar products. This is generally the case with low-to-mid end Panasonic and Olympus MILCs.
  • Finally, as we all know, the approach of the holiday season can prompt stores to discount certain products for a short period of time. The biggest day for discounts is the infamous Black Friday, and many people wait for this day before they buy.
  • And of course, sometimes Amazon just likes to throw us a curveball by knocking $100 off a camera we never imagined they would discount! 😉

Since deals can appear at any time on Amazon, there won’t be a specific day of the week dedicated to these posts. Rather, we plan to share these articles whenever we see at least two deals really worth pursuing. (But don’t worry, we won’t bombard you.)

Our hope is that by providing you with the occasional list of discounted products on Amazon you will be able to find the best deals possible without the hassle of having to search through the entire website!

Mirrorless Camera Deals on Amazon

This week on, the biggest deals can be found on Sony products. If you buy a qualifying Sony NEX camera (amongst which you’ll find the NEX 3, 5, 6 and 7), you can save on select Sony lenses. This is a great deal for someone just setting out on the Sony MILC path. You can also save on select Sony Cyber-shot digital cameras, including the wonderful Sony RX100. Though the RX100 lacks many of the features of the new RX100 II, it is still an awesome camera with great image quality and portability on its side. Finally, Amazon has slashed the original price of the amazing Sony NEX-6 body, one of the best selling mirrorless cameras to date. It comes with a 16MP APS-C sensor, 10 fps shooting, a bright OLED viewfinder for 100% coverage, fast hybrid AF, and WiFi capabilities.

My advice would be to buy the discounted Sony NEX 6 and take advantage of the Sony lens deal!

Panasonic also has a really good deal going on the brand new Lumix GX7. They’ve knocked quite a bit off the original price with the 14-42mm kit lens attached, so you won’t have to feel guilty about shelling out for this camera. It’s got everything you could want from a Lumix, including an advanced video codec, a tilting viewfinder, in-body stabilisation (the first in a Lumix), a wonderfully comfortable build, WiFi, focus peaking and excellent image quality! It is definitely one of the best MFT cameras out there at the moment.

Finally, a variety of Olympus products have been discounted as of today. On select Olympus lenses and accessories, you can now save quite a bit of money. These include our beloved 45mm portrait lens, the amazing 60mm macro lens (which I’m on the verge of buying myself), the HLD-6 battery grip which we use along with our OM-D E-M5, and a number of excellent M.Zuiko zooms. You can also save $50 or more on a wide variety of Olympus compact system cameras including our two “workhorses”, the OM-D E-M5 and Pen E-P5.

Every deal is different. The Sony one has been on for over two weeks now, for example. There is a very good possibility that you will find a better deal on the NEX series on Black Friday but it’s hard to know which cameras they’ll discount, and how much they’ll knock off. It’s always a gamble with Amazon!

Do you know how long these deals will last? I’m thinking of picking up the NEX 6 but I’m not sure if it will be cheaper during black friday. What do you think?
