Monthly Challenges

Yup, it’s that time of the month again; time to vote for your favourite image submitted for the Monthly Flickr Photography Challenge held in association with Tyson Robichaud! (Time really does fly!) The theme for the month of May was CLOSER, as chosen by last month’s winner Othman Kammah, and we received some very interesting submissions. Most were literal interpretations of the theme realised using macro photography and close physical interactions between two people, while a handful were slightly more abstract in nature. Have you ever set yourself a specific project or challenge to improve your photography? If not, let me tell you that not only is it an excellent way of developing a specific skill, but it also encourages you to learn about a genre in which you may have had very little interest.

Since we as artists all enjoy exercising our creative abilities and sharing our imagery with a wider audience, Mathieu and I at Mirrorlessons in association with Tyson Robichaud Photography Blog have decided to embark on a monthly Flickr photography challenge, and we invite all of you to join us for the ride!

Our Monthly Flickr Challenges held in association with Tyson Robichaud have gotten off to a roaring start, first with our One Light Source challenge in March, and then with April’s MUSIC challenge as suggested by March’s winner Marco Bozzato. We received some excellent submissions this month, but that’s no surprise – we continue to be amazing by the quality of the images shared in our Flickr pool! Keep up the great work, everyone!

First and foremost, we’d like to thank everyone who participated in our first Monthly Flickr Challenge held in association with Tyson Robichaud. We had lots of great submissions, and it seems like everyone had fun experimenting with the theme!

As you can imagine, it was a real challenge to narrow our choices down to just three. In the end, we went for the three images which we felt best exemplified the purpose of the challenge – to use one light source in a creative manner.
