Fujifilm X70 Review – The travel-size Fuji with a wide angle

11/03/2016 By Heather

The short review (for those who already own the X100T): take away the hybrid viewfinder of the X100T, add a tilting touchscreen, shave off a few grams in weight, crunch it down to about 3/4 of the size, pop on a fixed 28mm equivalent lens and voila, you have the Fujifilm X70!

The long review (for those who are new to Fujifilm): Okay, okay, I knew I couldn’t get away with a one sentence review. After all, not only is the X70 Fujifilm’s smallest camera with an APS-C sensor, but it is also the first serious competitor for the venerable Ricoh GR. For these two reasons alone, it is worth serious consideration.

The Fujifilm X70 – All about the digital teleconverter

07/03/2016 By Heather

A great number of you have been asking about the Fujifilm X70’s new digital teleconverter and more specifically, whether it is simply a crop of the 28mm field of view or something more. To answer this question, I thought I would write a brief article ahead of my full review of the camera.

Using the Olympus OM-D E-M1 for Head Shot Photography – Interview with Damon Hunter

04/03/2016 By Heather

Welcome to our series of 100 interviews we will be holding with photographers who use mirrorless cameras for their work! “Switching to a smaller and lighter system” has become somewhat a buzz phrase as of late, but many working photographers take this philosophy seriously. From medical reasons such as resolving back and shoulder pain to the simple realisation that bigger does not mean better, photographers are turning to mirrorless systems now more than ever before.

This week’s interview is with Damon Hunter, a professional head shot photographer and actor from Victoria, Australia who specialises in actors and corporate. He switched from Nikon to the Olympus OM-D E-M1 for all his photography, both professional and personal, and hasn’t looked back since.

Visit Damon’s website and check out his work on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Film Simulation Gallery with the Fuji X70 – Sample Images from Aberystwyth and Barmouth

29/02/2016 By Heather

I never would have predicted this, but it turns out that the 28mm focal length and I get along like a house on fire.

Since purchasing our Fujifilm X70 from the good people at London Camera Exchange in Chester last week, I’ve had the chance to use the camera for a mix of landscape and street photography around Mid-Wales, and for neither genre have I found myself missing something slightly wider or longer. This contrasts my experience with the X100 series, whose 35mm equivalent lens I always found somewhat limiting (but Mathieu thoroughly enjoyed).

Peak Design Shell Review – Protecting your camera from the elements

22/02/2016 By Heather

A common concern for those of us who own mirrorless gear that isn’t completely dust, moisture and freeze proof – and let’s face it, most of us own at least one body or lens that isn’t weather-sealed – is protecting it from the elements. In response, Peak Design has come up with a solution in the form of the Peak Design Shell, a lightweight camera cover made of stretchy waterproof fabric that fits any interchangeable lens camera system.
