Mirrorless vs. DSLR in 2015: For which genres is the debate still relevant?

Much like the film vs. digital debate of yore, the question of mirrorless vs. DSLR is a topic that proliferates the web, from lengthy forum discussions to articles about the so-called “switch” from one system to another.

However, the truth is that, as much as we seem to want it to exist, there actually is no debate, at least for 90% of the most popular photography genres. We are no longer dealing with an abyssal difference in image quality. There is no longer a chasmic gap in speed and performance.

If there is one area where DSLRs are one-up on mirrorless cameras, it is battery life. While a select number of cameras have  decent performance like the Panasonic GH3 or Samsung NX1, many MILCs need at least two batteries to get through the day. After more than two years of using various CSCs, I decided to share a list of tips and recommended accessories to improve the battery life of your camera and help you avoid unpleasant surprises.

TPS 2015: An interview with Fujifilm Japan’s Kunio Aoyama and Hiroto Nakata

The morning after the Fujifilm photo walk we attended on the first day of the UK Photography Show (read about it here), we sat down with Kunio Aoyama and Hiroto Nakata of Fujifilm Japan (Sales & Marketing Div., Optical Device & Electronic Imaging Products div.) for an interview. Marc Horner from Fujifilm UK (Web Development Manager, Electronic Imaging) was also present and together we discussed several topics including organic sensors, the lens roadmap and professional support.

The UK Photography Show 2015 – A photo walk and interview with Matt Hart

If you are part of the Fujifilm community here in the UK, Matt Hart will be a very familiar name to you. A Liverpool-based X Photographer, he regularly organises photo walks and workshops across the UK and, along with Sarah Jones of Cambrian Photography, recently launched Fujiholics, a website and social community where Fuji lovers can chat, arrange meet-ups and purchase Fuji gear from preferred partners around the UK.
