Have you ever pursued a specific project or challenge to improve your photography? If not, let me tell you that not only is it an excellent way of developing a specific skill, but it also encourages you to learn about a genre in which you may have had very little interest.

Since we as artists all enjoy exercising our creative abilities and sharing our imagery with a wider audience, Mathieu and I at Mirrorlessons in association with Tyson Robichaud Photography Blog have decided to embark on a monthly Flickr photography challenge, and we invite all of you to join us for the ride!

Yup, it’s that time of the month again; time to vote for your favourite image submitted for the Monthly Flickr Photography Challenge held in association with Tyson Robichaud! (Time really does fly!) The theme for the month of February was ARCHICTURE, chosen by Tyson and ourselves.

Architectural photography is accessible to anyone who lives within 5 minutes of a building (which means everyone!) but it isn’t necessarily easy to execute. A deep understanding of composition, angles, leading lines, contrast, and balance is needed to create an image that resonates with its viewers. In this round, we saw a handful of images that effectively fulfilled these requirements  and a decent number of concerted efforts. Good job, everyone!

Yup, it’s that time of the month again; time to vote for your favourite image submitted for the Monthly Flickr Photography Challenge held in association with Tyson Robichaud! (Time really does fly!) The theme for the month of January was PORTRAITS, as chosen by last month’s winner Giorgio Lumaconi.

Portraiture is a beloved genre in photography, and is both easy and difficult to realise at the same time. On one hand, subjects may be plentiful and willing but on the other, capturing the perfect expression and getting the light just as you want it takes skill and years of practice.
