Using the Panasonic GX8 and 4K Photo for Insects in Flight

14/09/2015 By Heather

Though I was excited to review the Panasonic GX8 for many reasons – not least because it is the successor to one of my favourite mirrorless cameras, the GX7 – the main pull for me as a macro photography enthusiast was the enhanced 4K Photo mode.

A day at Penrhyn Castle – Hands-On with the Panasonic GX8

17/08/2015 By Mathieu

I’ve just come back from a day trip to Penrhyn Castle where Panasonic UK held its second Wales-based event in association with the National Trust. Despite being late in the evening, I decided to start writing my first impressions about the Panasonic Lumix GX8 while the experience is still fresh in my mind. We extend our warmest thanks to Panasonic ambassador Ross Grieves, who was able to procure us a pre-production model to use, and to Mark Baber for telling us about the event.

A Day at the Erddig Historic House – A “Mini” Panasonic G7 Review

22/06/2015 By Heather

This past Saturday, Mathieu and I were invited to a photo event held by Panasonic UK in association with the National Trust and Erddig, one of Wales’ most famed historic houses with a 1200-acre country park and extensive walled garden.

At the event, visitors were invited to try Panasonic’s wide array of Lumix cameras, from their point-and-shoot range to the high-end GH4. One of the newest cameras on display with the Lumix G7, the latest product in the G line-up and a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the G6.

Panasonic Lumix LX100 Review Part II – Fast zoom, 4K video, 4K photo & more

28/01/2015 By Heather

Introduction

Back in December, I published my first impressions of the Panasonic Lumix LX100, the company’s first premium compact with a large 4/3s sensor. In the weeks that have passed since then, I’ve spent most of my days shooting with it in a variety of situations, from our Christmas celebrations in Italy and France to our mini-vacation around Lake Como. My colleagues would joke that the only time you wouldn’t see it around my neck was when I went to bed. (Quite the exaggeration!)

First impressions of the Panasonic Lumix LX100 – Is it a worthy premium compact?

17/12/2014 By Heather

The Lumix LX100 is the first premium fixed-lens compact camera from Panasonic to house a four-thirds sensor, which is twice as large than the 1” sensors found on the likes of the RX100 series and Canon G7X. This is a big step-up from the popular LX7, the LX100’s predecessor, which was released more than two years ago and whose sensor was only 1/1.7″. Of all the mirrorless cameras released this year, the LX100 has been met with some of the most excitement, not only due to its large sensor but also owing to its 24-75mm (equivalent) zoom with a fast aperture of f/1.7-2.8.
