FlashQ: Wireless flash photography made easy and compact

07/05/2014 By Heather

Eleven days ago, they hardly had any backers. Now, with still 12 days left in their IndieGoGo campaign, funding for the FlashQ wireless flash trigger has already flown past creators Anita Yim and Zashia Kwok’s original goal of $25,000. But what is about FlashQ that has caught the attention of photographers?

Monthly Flickr Photography Challenge – May 2014 – CLOSER

06/05/2014 By Heather

Have you ever set yourself a specific project or challenge to improve your photography? If not, let me tell you that not only is it an excellent way of developing a specific skill, but it also encourages you to learn about a genre in which you may have had very little interest.

Since we as artists all enjoy exercising our creative abilities and sharing our imagery with a wider audience, Mathieu and I at Mirrorlessons in association with Tyson Robichaud Photography Blog have decided to embark on a monthly Flickr photography challenge, and we invite all of you to join us for the ride!

Flickr Photography Challenge: MUSIC – It’s time to vote!

01/05/2014 By Heather

Our Monthly Flickr Challenges held in association with Tyson Robichaud have gotten off to a roaring start, first with our One Light Source challenge in March, and then with April’s MUSIC challenge as suggested by March’s winner Marco Bozzato. We received some excellent submissions this month, but that’s no surprise – we continue to be amazing by the quality of the images shared in our Flickr pool! Keep up the great work, everyone!

Travelling Down the Rabbit Hole of the Fuji X System: An Interview with Riley Joseph

16/04/2014 By Heather

Welcome to our series of 100 interviews we will be holding with professional photographers who use mirrorless cameras for work! “Switching to a smaller and lighter system” has become somewhat of a buzz phrase as of late, but many working photographers take this philosophy seriously. From medical reasons such as resolving back and shoulder pain to the simple realisation that bigger does not mean better, photographers are turning to mirrorless systems now more than ever before.

This week’s interview is with X-Photographer Riley Joseph, an environmental portrait photographer who hails from Calgary, Canada. Though his professional work mainly revolves around environmental portraiture, he also has a large body of beautiful street and landscape work. His work has been awarded by the Exposure Photo Festival and has been featured online as well as in print.

A Walk in the Woods: In search of butterflies with the M.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8 macro

11/04/2014 By Heather

Despite the aches in my unaccustomed muscles, I knew I had to keep going. I had finally discovered one of the many steep woodland paths that wind up and around the notable colline (hills) of Turin. Though the unexpected solitude of the route made me trepidatious at first, I soon became mesmorised by the fauna and flora that had gone from dormant to thriving in a matter of days. The bustling city centre was only a stone’s throw away, but I felt as if I were wandering through a minute part of the world that the industrial hand of man had forgotten to touch.
