Get a grip on the Fujifilm X-T1! – Review of the Lensmate Thumb Rest & Lolumina Soft Button

05/11/2014 By Heather

Having owned the Fujifilm X-T1 for over six months now and used it on a regular basis, I find it difficult to point out any serious design flaws. The chassis is solid, the various buttons and dials are easy to access and turn, and the front and rear grips for your hand and thumb are both substantial and comfortable. We were even lucky enough not to experience the dreaded light leak issue of the first batch of X-T1s, so all in all, we are dealing with a near-perfect design.

However there are a couple of accessories that can make the user experience with the X-T1 (or any camera for that matter) even more enjoyable, namely thumb rests and soft buttons. And to our delight, we recently received one of each to test on our beloved Fuji.

27/10/2014 By Mathieu

When it comes to accessorising your camera, there are many options. Some are made to provide extra protection, some are made to help you shoot more comfortably, and others still are made to give your camera a classier look. But what about an all-in one option? This is where Gariz comes into play.

Sailor Strap and T&T Garda Strap: Two durable camera straps made from sailing ropes!

14/10/2014 By Heather

If it is true that the prize for the most popular kind of camera strap material goes to leather, then straps made from sailing ropes certainly get the prize for the most unique. So far, Mathieu and I have had the pleasure of trying out handcrafted sailing rope straps from two different makers, Sailor Strap and T&T Garda Strap, both of which left us with a very good impression. Below you can read a brief review of each, and decide whether or not you too want to bring the seas to your strap!

The Porteen Gear Compact Camera Bag – Design the bag you’ve always dreamed of having!

29/09/2014 By Heather

As with many of my discoveries, I came across Porteen Gear while browsing around Etsy for unique mirrorless accessories to test. I was immediately drawn to the elegant design, attractive form and classic colours that epitomise the company’s series of camera bags, but my heart was won over when I saw that the designer and company founder, Robyn Porteen, also produces a series of compact bags for mirrorless cameras. To my delight, she was more than happy to send me a bag to test and review.

Turning your smartphone into a helpful photography tool – The Triggertrap Mobile kit review

12/09/2014 By Mathieu

Here at MirrorLessons we like to review accessories that can concretely improve a photographer’s shooting experience. We like accessories that are not only innovative and smart but also simple and effective to use. The Triggertrap Mobile kit is probably one of the best accessories we’ve tried so far, and the good news is that it is also very affordable. In actual fact, it is the cheapest remote controller you can find for your camera, yet it offers many more functionalities than most traditional models out there.
