10 Amazing Sports Photographers Who Use Mirrorless Cameras on the Job

One photography genre where professionals are still reluctant to use mirrorless cameras is sports. Though significant improvements have been made in terms of autofocus and continuous shooting speed on recent mirrorless models, DSLRs remain a solid reference for this genre. Indeed there is some way to go before we can see more CSCs being used at the most important sporting events. It is not just a question of speed but also of lenses, professional support and other aspects.

That said, there is always a small group that decides jump ship earlier than the rest. They believe in progressive technology and want to prove that it can work to the rest of us. The results they produce not only give others the confidence to experiment with the new technology but they also encourage brands to push their cameras to unprecedented heights.

The Gran Fondo Conwy: A gallery captured with the Fujifilm X-T1, X-A2, 16-55mm f/2.8 and 50-140mm f/2.8

27/04/2015 By Mathieu

A few days ago, we received a number of Fujifilm products for testing including the two pro zoom lenses. Luckily for us, on Sunday there was the perfect event to put them through their paces: a bicycle race divided into three different paths with the longest one being 104 miles. The Gran Fondo Conwy is a non-competitive cycling race that takes place in North Wales. It starts and finishes at the promenade near Conwy Castle. The cyclists travel through some of the most stunning scenery in the Conwy and Denbighshire counties.

Sacrificing small size for quality – The Sony Distagon T* FE 35mm F1.4 ZA Review

24/04/2015 By Mathieu

When Sony announced the development of the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 last year at Photokina, I was surprised at first because it was the third 35mm lens on the roadmap for a system that was less than one year old at the time. At the Cologne show Mr. Yasuyuki Nagata (General Manager – Lens and Peripheral Business) explained that this lens was in fact highly requested. Users wanted a 35mm with the best possible performance, which put Sony in a difficult position because CSC users also deeply care about the size of their kit. And the size of this new fast prime lens can’t be ignored.

The indecisive moment – A personal review of the Leica M 240

22/04/2015 By Mathieu

When it comes to Leica cameras in the digital age, people are usually divided into two groups. The first group is composed of those who are against it because the cameras are too expensive and aren’t as advanced as cheaper alternatives. The second group is made up of those who still appreciate and embrace the philosophy behind the brand and care less about specifications. There is probably also a third group that is interested but can’t afford the investment and a fourth group that simply doesn’t care.

How to Improve the Battery Life of your Mirrorless Camera

21/04/2015 By Mathieu

If there is one area where DSLRs are one-up on mirrorless cameras, it is battery life. While a select number of cameras have  decent performance like the Panasonic GH3 or Samsung NX1, many MILCs need at least two batteries to get through the day. After more than two years of using various CSCs, I decided to share a list of tips and recommended accessories to improve the battery life of your camera and help you avoid unpleasant surprises.
