10 Amazing Sports Photographers Who Use Mirrorless Cameras on the Job

One photography genre where professionals are still reluctant to use mirrorless cameras is sports. Though significant improvements have been made in terms of autofocus and continuous shooting speed on recent mirrorless models, DSLRs remain a solid reference for this genre. Indeed there is some way to go before we can see more CSCs being used at the most important sporting events. It is not just a question of speed but also of lenses, professional support and other aspects.

That said, there is always a small group that decides jump ship earlier than the rest. They believe in progressive technology and want to prove that it can work to the rest of us. The results they produce not only give others the confidence to experiment with the new technology but they also encourage brands to push their cameras to unprecedented heights.

Meet These 22 Wedding Photographers Who’ve Gone Mirrorless!

15/08/2014 By Heather

With perhaps the exception of street photography, the one genre where mirrorless cameras seem to be taking hold more than any other is wedding photography. You’ll know that the reasoning for this is fairly logical is you’ve ever shot a wedding yourself. Spending up to 14 hours on your feet until the wee hours of the morning chasing down the bride and groom and taking group photos, all the while searching for those perfect fleeting moments between guests–it can be wearing, especially if you are carrying around kilos-worth of gear. And if you consider that some wedding photographers work almost every weekend during the spring and summer months, it is no surprise that many are looking for lighter alternatives.

10 Amazing Photographers Who Use the Olympus OM-D E-M1 on the Job

20/05/2014 By Heather

You may not see many of them, but they’re there: professional photographers who have dispensed with much, if not all, of their heavy professional gear in favour of a lighter mirrorless system. Their reasons are many. Some have chosen a lighter load due to physical health problems. Others have come to the realisation that, for the kind of photography they do, a full-frame DSLR simply isn’t necessary. Either way, these photographers turned to mirrorless because they were looking to change the way they work. Plain and simple.

“I’m Making the Switch!” – 9 Great Articles About Dropping the DSLR for Mirrorless

25/10/2013 By Heather

Perhaps you’ve read the odd article about how mirrorless cameras are rapidly catching up with DSLRs in terms of image quality and performance. You may also have read a handful of posts that go as far as to claim that the demise of the DSLR is on the near horizon. While it is easy to make claims and predictions, they only become credible once proof of the so-called “shift from DSLR to mirrorless” is seen in the actions of actual professional photographers. 10 Awesome Professional Photographers Who Use Fuji X Cameras for Work

27/09/2013 By Heather

In our first post entitled 13 Amazing Professional Photographers Who Use Mirrorless Cameras on the Job, we met a wide range of professional photographers who all have one thing in common: they use one of the Fuji X, Olympus OM-D or Sony NEX system for work. These photographers either made the decision to drop their DSLRs for good, or chose to use mirrorless cameras in tandem with their other high-grade cameras in the professional sphere.

In this post, we’ve decided to specifically hone in on great professional photographers who use Fuji X series cameras for work.

Why? Because they appear to make up the largest group of converts from DSLR to mirrorless – an intriguing fact as the Fuji X series is still relatively new, has a less-varied lens roadmap than Olympus and Sony, and certainly isn’t without its flaws in terms of speed and autofocus.
