Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.2 PRO Review

The M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.2 PRO is one of Olympus’ most recent offerings for Micro Four Thirds, and also happens to be the fastest moderate wide-angle AF prime for the system at the time of writing. Its most appealing feature is its fast f/1.2 aperture which is useful for low-light work and environmental portraits.

The Olympus M.Zuiko 45mm f/1.2 PRO is the fifth portrait lens for the Micro Four Thirds system with a field of view close to 85mm in 35mm format, and the second premium AF lens after the Nocticron 42.5mm with a fast f/1.2 aperture.

The sixth addition to Olympus’ PRO range of lenses is the M.Zuiko 12-100mm f/4. With its versatile focal range and constant f/4 aperture, it is the perfect choice for those who enjoy photographing a wide variety of genres, from landscapes to portraits to street. For the same reason, it is also an ideal travel zoom.

Like the M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.2 PRO which we reviewed last week, we had the chance to test the 12-100mm for a month on the E-M1 and E-M1 II during our Christmas vacation in Italy and France. All our findings have been summarised in the video review posted below.

As of today, there are four 25mm autofocus primes available for the Micro Four Thirds system, the latest of which is the 25mm f/1.2 PRO lens from Olympus. We had the chance to test the lens for a month on the E-M1 and E-M1 II during our Christmas vacation in Italy and France. All our findings have been summarised in the video review posted below.

Nope, we haven’t forgotten to talk about the new Olympus lenses introduced at Photokina. Though we had the chance to see them at the same time as the OM-D E-M1 II (hands-on articles here and here), we decided to share our findings in a separate article that I admit, has arrived a little later than I’d hoped!

Olympus introduced one affordable macro prime lens (the M.Zuiko 30mm f/3.5) and two new Pro lenses: the 25mm f/1.2 PRO and the 12-100mm f/4 PRO. As usual, you can find our hands-on Photokina video below followed by some thoughts.
