Ready for Photokina 2016? Make sure to follow our live blogging!

16/09/2016 By Mathieu 3 Comments

Two years ago, Heather and I experienced our first Photokina. The one word that immediately came to mind when we stepped through the doors of the Koelnmesse exhibition centre was: HUGE! I remember discovering at the end of the show that there were entire halls we didn’t even know existed.

At the entrance on the first day!

It is actually impossible to see everything in one week because Photokina isn’t just about the major camera and lens manufacturers – there are also entire halls dedicated to accessory companies from all over the world, subdivided by continent. You can literally become lost if you don’t pay attention to where you’re going.

Because it is the most popular photography event in the world and pretty much everyone in the industry is present, it is also a nice opportunity to meet people – both new faces and those you’ve only ever had the chance to meet online. In fact, this is one of the main reasons we decided to go back this year.

One “friend” Heather was particularly glad to make!

This year we’ll stay for a shorter period of time but rest assured: we will cover all the most important new announcements related to the mirrorless world. Starting Monday, we’ll be discovering all the new products at several press conferences and begin sharing our first impressions on the same evening. Ok, evening probably sounds too optimistic, let’s say during the night! 🙂

Memories from last year: Heather at the Leica booth.

Since MirrorLessons now comprises multiple platforms, we will handle our reporting in the following manner: all product coverage will be produced in video format on our YouTube channel. On MirrorLessons, we will publish a quick summary of our thoughts with the aforementioned videos embedded, along with product shots and if allowed, sample images taken with the new cameras and lenses. We have scheduled a couple of interviews which will also be published on Mirrorlessons. Finally, on our Mirrorless Comparison website, we will publish several comparison previews with side-by-side product images.

Live Blogging will start on September the 19th. To follow everything, make sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel, newsletter, follow us on Facebook / Twitter or bookmark this article as it will be updated regularly with new links.

We look forward to seeing and sharing all the new products with you, meeting old and new friends, and drinking lots of coffee!
