Our 10 Favourite Fujifilm X100T Accessories

03/03/2015 By Heather

There are few mirrorless cameras photographers enjoy accessorising more than the X100 series and the latest iteration, the X100T, is no exception. The camera’s fetching design summons up fond memories of the days of film, compelling its owners to adorn it with products that emphasise its beauty and render it as functional as possible. And with so many native and third-party add-ons to choose from, it is also a very easy camera to accessorise.

The Perfectly Mirrorless African Safari – Guest Post by Dallas Dahms

02/03/2015 By Heather

For the past 6 years, together with my tourism business associate, I have been arranging photographic safaris here in Africa for people who come from all over the world to get a taste of the wildlife and awesome landscapes that can be found in Southern Africa. We’ve been all over South Africa (where I live), Namibia, Swaziland, Botswana and last year we also saw a little bit of Zambia and Zimbabwe at the Victoria Falls.

Flickr Photography Challenge: ARCHITECTURE – It’s time to vote!

01/03/2015 By Heather

Yup, it’s that time of the month again; time to vote for your favourite image submitted for the Monthly Flickr Photography Challenge held in association with Tyson Robichaud! (Time really does fly!) The theme for the month of February was ARCHICTURE, chosen by Tyson and ourselves.

Architectural photography is accessible to anyone who lives within 5 minutes of a building (which means everyone!) but it isn’t necessarily easy to execute. A deep understanding of composition, angles, leading lines, contrast, and balance is needed to create an image that resonates with its viewers. In this round, we saw a handful of images that effectively fulfilled these requirements  and a decent number of concerted efforts. Good job, everyone!

Which Sony mirrorless should I buy? – Demystifying the Sony E Mount and premium compact series

26/02/2015 By Heather

Since our readers frequently email us asking which mirrorless camera they should buy, Mathieu and I recently started up a series of articles where we “demystify” each camera brand as well as their respective mirrorless models.

Following our first two articles about Micro Four Thirds giants Olympus and Panasonic, we now turn our attention to Sony, a company that is known for everything from televisions to audio equipment but has also taken a keen interest in the photography industry.

It is the brand that has shown the most willingness to experiment, push the boundaries and surprise the photography world by packing large, high-resolution sensors into small yet powerful bodies, but has also been criticised for its rapid-fire approach to releasing new camera bodies, slow production of professional lenses and unpredictability in terms of its goals and direction.

Walking the Welsh Coast with the Fujifilm X-T1 and XF 35mm f/1.4

23/02/2015 By Heather

The Fujifilm XF 35mm f/1.4 first came into our possession a year ago when we saw it sitting in our local camera shop’s window at half price. Although it is one of the oldest XF lenses – it was released in 2011 alongside the X-Pro1 – its specifications aren’t to be underestimated. Besides having a compact and lightweight design, it also has a fast 1.4 aperture and a focal length that most photographers, regardless of their specialisation, want in their collection.
