Fujifilm XF 100-400mm Review for Wildlife and Sports Photography on the X-Pro2 and X-T1

06/04/2016 By Mathieu

Round three of the battle between the most recent super zooms designed for mirrorless cameras takes place in the land of Fujifilm with the new XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 which I rented for a week. This is an important lens for the X series because it is the first serious offering from the brand for wildlife photographers and the second lens to be compatible with its 1.4x teleconverter.

A fun experiment: Using the Fuji X-Pro2 OVF and XF 100-400mm for birds in flight

30/03/2016 By Mathieu

Don’t worry, there isn’t a typo in the title. I did indeed write OVF (a.k.a. optical viewfinder)!

Now you might think I’ve had too many pints or have a serious headache but rest assured, I am 100% healthy and yes, I am going to talk about shooting birds in flight with a telephoto lens using the optical rangefinder of the Fujifilm X-Pro2.

The Photography Show 2016 Round-Up – Laowa 105mm, Leica 90-280mm, Panasonic 12-60mm and more

22/03/2016 By Mathieu

On Sunday and Monday, we had a very enjoyable time browsing around The Photography Show in Birmingham and had the opportunity to see many of the new products announced over the past few months. As is common with these kinds of shows, there isn’t much you can do with the gear since there isn’t a lot to photograph and some of the products were either mock-ups or pre-production samples.

Instead of writing separate posts, we thought it would be more interesting to share a round-up of the most interesting products accompanied by a few first impressions. We will test most of them in the coming months.

To Cardiff and back – A Fujifilm X-Pro2 Acros sample image gallery

16/03/2016 By Mathieu

If you’ve read my previous Fujifilm camera reviews, you’ll know that one of my favourite features are the Film Simulation Modes (a.k.a. colour/monochrome profiles). A few years ago, I even wrote a dedicated post about shooting in B&W with the X100s.

So, naturally, the first thing I was curious to try out when I received our Fujifilm X-Pro2 was the new Acros monochrome profile. Like the other Fuji profiles, the name comes from the Acros black and white film produced by Fujifilm.

Panasonic 100-400mm vs 100-300mm – Two super zooms for Micro Four Thirds compared

10/03/2016 By Mathieu

As a follow up to our Panasonic/Leica 100-400mm f/4-6.3 review that we published yesterday, here is a comparison with another popular super zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds which is perhaps its most natural competitor: the Lumix G 100-300mm f/4-5.6.
