The most powerful compact camera ever – The Sony RX100 IV Review

It seems that Sony enjoys putting amazing technology in as many of its cameras as possible. It doesn’t matter if it is a high-end or entry-level product, or if it is a professional interchangeable-lens camera or a compact camera. Sony likes to impress. With the RX100 series, they’ve done exactly that since the beginning. First it was all about creating a truly pocketable camera with a large sensor and great image quality. Then they managed to put a pop-up EVF inside that tiny body with the mark III. And now we have the fourth generation, which has inherited some stunning performance and video capabilities: 4K recording and slow motion up to 1000fps alone should be enough to grab your attention.

Five months have passed since my first review of the OM-D E-M5 mark II. I had the chance to test it before its official announcement and as such, I decided to concentrate on the many new features that camera has to offer. Being among the first to review a new product has its obvious advantages, but it is nice to come back to it a second time to check other aspects I didn’t have time to test in the first place. It is also an opportunity to reconsider one’s first impressions after reading feedback from other users. Indeed, it is something we’d like to do with every camera we test here at MirrorLessons.

At the dawn of photography and motion pictures, monochrome was the only option for those who wanted to make images. When colour photography arrived on the scene, it was more expensive than B&W and therefore less accessible to the general public. However, as colour photography began to permeate the market and come down in price, monochrome imagery gradually became more of an artistic choice.

Today, we live in an era where digital imaging is at everyone’s fingertips. Even the simplest cameras deliver a wide array of options – colour, monotone, filters, effects, and more. What’s more, you have the freedom to adjust everything after the shoot.

A Day at the Erddig Historic House – A “Mini” Panasonic G7 Review

This past Saturday, Mathieu and I were invited to a photo event held by Panasonic UK in association with the National Trust and Erddig, one of Wales’ most famed historic houses with a 1200-acre country park and extensive walled garden.

At the event, visitors were invited to try Panasonic’s wide array of Lumix cameras, from their point-and-shoot range to the high-end GH4. One of the newest cameras on display with the Lumix G7, the latest product in the G line-up and a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the G6.

When the Sony A7r mark II was announced a week ago, with its full frame sensor, lots of megapixels and a new exciting autofocus system, it stole the spotlight from two other cameras that the Japanese brand released at the same time. However, these other two cameras – the RX100 Mk4 and RX10 Mk2 – shouldn’t be underestimated because they could give us a sneak peek of what’s to come on future products.
