Butterflies in Low-Light – Sony a6300 High ISO Gallery with the Zeiss Touit 50mm Macro

25/04/2016 By Heather

Not too far from where we live, there is a small yet very well-presented butterfly house situated next to the Cwm Rheidol Reservoir, a mere 10 miles from Aberystwyth. Founded by Neil Gale in 2000, the butterfly house is home to over 80 species of butterfly, of which 30 can be seen at any one time during the year.

GSimpleRelease Review – A Focus Bracketing App for Panasonic Lumix Cameras

15/04/2016 By Heather

Being a keen macro photographer, I was very excited when Olympus first announced its new Focus Bracketing and Focus Stacking modes back in mid-2015. Put simply, these modes allow you to take a series of bracketed shots (RAW + JPG) at varying focus distances, giving you a deeper depth of field. The only difference between the two is that Stacking actually merges the image in-camera while Bracketing requires merging in post-production.

Lost in Shanghai: Intriguing Works of Shanghai Street Photographer Tim Gao

11/04/2016 By Heather

Born in 1986, I am a self-taught and enthusiastic freelance portrait photographer based in Shanghai.

With a curiosity about the world, I find my passion in street photography. Street photography not only enables me to create a documentary view of the unique Shanghai streets and its culture, but  it also reveals the extraordinary and metaphorical aspect of Shanghai – a mixture of mystery, nostalgia and unease.

Review of the 4V Design “Lusso” Large Camera Strap

08/04/2016 By Heather

At the Photography Show in Birmingham, we recently had the pleasure of meeting the 4V Design team and their distributors, MAC Group Europe. Based in the city Treviso only a short distance from Venice, this Italian company produces hand-made quality leather straps for mirrorless cameras and DSLRs. They pride themselves on using the best Tuscany vegetable tanned leather, called “cuoio” in Italian, and preserving traditional techniques of cutting, stitching and painting in the production of their products.
