SystemGO by Benro: GoPlus Travel tripod review

03/08/2016 By Mathieu

Since starting MirrorLessons more than three years ago, we’ve reviewed almost every kind of accessory … except for tripods. There are a couple of reasons for this, the main one being the time and effort required to expand our professional network and receive samples from the various brands. On a more personal note, I admit that I’ve never been a big tripod aficionado. I only bring one with me when it is strictly necessary because I like to move about with as little gear as possible. The arrival of excellent image stabilisation on some mirrorless cameras didn’t help to change my mind either!

Sony RX1r II Review – The best IQ in the smallest package: what’s not to like?

01/08/2016 By Mathieu

The original Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX1 was more important than you might think. Despite being a niche product and, at the time of release, probably also an experiment, it opened up the floodgates to more full-frame mirrorless products that the company would introduce later on. In addition to the partnership with Zeiss, Sony decided to create its own set of premium lenses to show that they are capable of creating high quality lenses of their own.

Samyang / Rokinon 21mm f/1.4 review (Fuji X, Sony E, Canon M, Micro Four Thirds)

27/07/2016 By Mathieu

Samyang has been doing an excellent job with its manual focus lenses. They provide affordable products that in many cases fulfil the “good quality / low price” requirement while sacrificing some other aspects like autofocus and electronic contacts (but that might change since the brand recently launched its first AF lenses). They also have a popular line-up of Cine lenses.

Problem solving: How to deal with the Fujifilm X-Pro2 and X-T2 “grid” artefacts

25/07/2016 By Mathieu

The X-Pro2 is a camera with lots of positive characteristics but more importantly, it is a relevant upgrade, taking Fujifilm’s mirrorless system to the next level alongside the recently announced X-T2. However, no camera is perfect and sometimes certain flaws can cause more irritation than others.
