Re-encountering the Fuji XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8: Second Hands-On Experience

21/06/2013 By Mathieu

Last weekend, as fate would have it, I crossed paths with the Fujinon 55-200mm once again. Q&A: Will smartphones replace point and shoot cameras?

12/06/2013 By Mathieu

Recently, Olympus, and subsequently Panasonic announced that they would cut their compact camera production line by at least 50% to concentrate their efforts on mirrorless, DSLRs (for Olympus) and specific compact cameras such as the Tough series (Olympus again).

On the other end, rumors have been leaked about a new Nokia Lumia (called EOS) revealing a 41 megapixels sensor, a mechanical shutter and a carl zeiss lens. Furthermore, today Samsung officially announced the Galaxy S4 Zoom, a smartphone with a 10x optical zoom lens attached and a 16mp CMOS sensor. It is clear how the market is changing with regards to amateur photography and compact cameras.

There has been a lot of talk recently about the new Leica “Mini M” that the German brand has been dangling in front of our noses for the past couple of weeks. When the first spec rumors came out, no one believed them or more accurately, no one wanted to believe them. 11/06/2013 By Mathieu

With the advent of digital photography, black and white has often, if not always, become a post-processing option rather than a style to adopt during the shoot itself … and the reason is not surprising.

The Voigtlaender Nokton 25mm f/0.95 Hands-On Review: a unique lens for your MFT camera!

07/06/2013 By Mathieu

The Nokton 25mm f/0.95 is either a lens you love or hate. It gives your photographs a unique look and produces a very soft and pleasant bokeh, but the lens doesn’t come without its faults.

As always, the question is: is it worth adding to your collection? I’d say ‘yes’ if you are willing to invest in a product knowing that it isn’t perfect … but first things first!
