‘Mirrorless Monday’ with Riley Joseph and the Fuji X100s

10/06/2013 By Heather

This week on Mirrorless Monday, we travel to a destination adored by all street photographers – the busy streets of New York City. Our guide is photographer Riley Joseph who, on his photography blog, calls NYC the “Mecca for photographers…and a lifelong bucket list destination.” For this trip, he decided to limit himself to the Fuji X100s and X-Pro1 along with the Fujinon 14mm or 35mm lenses. He further explains that, while he packed a dedicated DSLR bag for his trip, it never saw the outside of his hotel room! We can completely relate, Riley! 🙂

Retro Style Mirrorless Cameras: What’s all the fuss?

05/06/2013 By Heather

Just a few weeks back, rumor sites leaked some news about the successor of the Panasonic Lumix GX1. Interestingly, its appearance should bears absolutely no resemblance to its predecessor. It would be a throwback to the old DMC-LC1 from 2004, which was in turn based on the classic 35mm design of film cameras.  This move would add Panasonic to the long line of camera manufacturers that have produced retro style cameras for their mirrorless collection.

‘Mirrorless Monday’ with Colin Franks & Erik Mattsson

03/06/2013 By Heather

Colin Franks has become a regular on Mirrorless Monday, and rightly so – he takes beautiful photographs in some very interesting places. This week, he has decided to share a photo he took while on Spring Salt Island in British Columbia, a place well-known for its large number of artists, sculptors and musicians. The community even built an arts centre called Art Spring especially for artists who want a place to perform and share their work.

Why I am switching to mirrorless for work: The ‘Mirrorless on the Job’ series preview

29/05/2013 By Mathieu

When I first bought the Olympus OM-D E-M5 at the beginning of 2013, I spent a lot of time learning the ins and outs of the camera, taking it out on the streets on weekends and using it while on holiday. It wasn’t long before I started to see the potential of this fast little mirrorless for my job.

Its small size and weight, fast autofocus and amazing quality forced me to update my approach to photography. This was only reconfirmed when the Fuji X100s entered my life. I had bought the X100s thinking that I would use it for personal purposes only, but it always seems to find its way into my camera bag for work. In fact, I almost use it as much as the OM-D, if not more on some occasions.

Spring in the Langhe: Landscape Gallery with the Fuji X100s

14/04/2013 By Mathieu

Update: also check out our colours gallery.

Spring has finally made its appearance here in Italy. Keeping with our yearly tradition, Heather and I went to the Langhe region (Piedmont, Italy), famous worldwide for its wine and truffles. (In fact, many celebrities ranging from the likes of De Niro to rapper Jay-Z come here regularly to eat them!) It was a great opportunity to bring along my x100s and see how it would suit the landscape photography genre. The Fuji X100s was designed primarily for street photography, but the colour and tonal range capabilities of the X-Trans Sensor are very interesting for landscape shots as well. (You can read our x100s full review here).
