Animal Reserve Near Aosta: The Fuji x20 JPG quality revealed!

04/07/2013 By Heather

It is more or less an established fact amongst photographers that the Fuji X-Pro1, X-E1 and X100s (that is, Fujifilm’s high-end mirrorless cameras) produce outstanding on-camera JPGs. The rich lifelike colours and impressive dynamic range are generated by Fuji’s innovative X-Trans sensor, which is now in its second generation and will continue to improve with every new X-series release.

Fujifilm X20 vs X100s: Siblings in name, but far from the same!

26/06/2013 By Heather

The Fujifilm X20 and X100s are two X-series cameras that were released with great anticipation in the March/April of 2013. They are the updated versions of the extremely successful X10 and X100. However, unlike their predecessors, the X20 and X100s contain an X-Trans sensor found in the likes of the X-Pro1 and X-E1, though slightly updated (X-Trans II). Both new models have been labelled ‘compact cameras’ for their small size. Moreover, they have non-interchangeable lenses, and share a classy retro design reminiscent of analog cameras from back in the day.

Enter the Fuji X-M1: Welcoming amateurs into the X-series fold

25/06/2013 By Heather

Whereas camera companies such as Olympus, Panasonic and Sony have gradually worked up from entry-level mirrorless cameras to high-end models, Fujifilm has taken a completely different approach to the production of their famous X-series. They started out with the high-end X-Pro1, which was soon followed by its baby brother, the X-E1, a camera practically identical to the X-Pro1 but lacking an OVF. Not long after, we saw two compacts, the X100s, tailored for professionals looking for a light second body for the streets, and the X20, a high-end compact with a non-interchangeable zoom lens.

‘Mirrorless Monday’ with Riley Joseph and the Fuji X100s

10/06/2013 By Heather

This week on Mirrorless Monday, we travel to a destination adored by all street photographers – the busy streets of New York City. Our guide is photographer Riley Joseph who, on his photography blog, calls NYC the “Mecca for photographers…and a lifelong bucket list destination.” For this trip, he decided to limit himself to the Fuji X100s and X-Pro1 along with the Fujinon 14mm or 35mm lenses. He further explains that, while he packed a dedicated DSLR bag for his trip, it never saw the outside of his hotel room! We can completely relate, Riley! 🙂
