A wide view of the world – The Sony Vario-Tessar T* FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS Review

09/04/2015 By Mathieu

In the first six months following the release of the Sony A7 and A7r, many users were complaining about the lack of native lenses for the system. One year and three months later, I must praise Sony for the effort it has put into releasing more lenses for the system. At the present day, there are ten full-frame E-mount lenses excluding the two Zeiss Loxia manual focus lenses. To me, that is not bad at all for a system that is less than two years old.

Better late than never! – The Sony Zeiss FE 55mm f/1.8 review

01/04/2015 By Mathieu

The Sony FE 55mm f/1.8 is the lens I’ve used the most with the A7 series yet I’d never published a dedicated article about it. As such, I thought it was about time I gave it some attention, especially since this lens is considered by many to be one of the best autofocus prime lenses ever designed.

This year at The Photography Show in Birmingham there weren’t many new announcements but we did have the chance to try some of the latest gear. At the Sony booth, three of the four new FE lenses were available and luckily for us, they weren’t just pre-production models that we could see but not touch. Only the 90mm macro was missing. Of course, at this kind of a show, you have a limited amount of time to spend with the newest lenses as everyone wants to try them, and there is a small chance of being able to take some interesting pictures, so I will be brief and give you my first impressions.

Hands-On with the Sony / Zeiss Vario-Tessar T* 24-70 FE f/4 ZA OSS

28/03/2014 By Mathieu

Last Saturday, we spent a very nice morning with the Sony Italia team led by Davide Grimoldi and Amedeo Novelli. Many recent products were showcased including the A7 and A7r. As for me, I was interested in trying the new Vario Tessar T* FE 24-70mm f/4 for the system and I wasn’t disappointed: there was only one sample available and I got the chance to try it right away.
