Will the new Sony NEX-7n have Olympus and Panasonic shaking in their boots?

28/02/2013 By Heather

Olympus and Panasonic may be leading the mirrorless pack at the moment with the OM-D E-M5 and the GH3, but Sony is never more than a step behind its competitors.

Late this month, Sony Alpha Rumors announced that, according to trusted sources, Sony would be releasing the new NEX-7n, the souped-up version of its predecessor, the NEX-7. The official announcement is expected in April, and it should be available in stores in May.

What are the key differences between the Fuji x100 and the x100s?

21/02/2013 By Heather

With the recent release of the Fuji x100s in Japan, one cannot help but wonder just how it compares to its predecessor, the x100, and whether it is worth swapping one for the other.

Physically, the two cameras are practically identical, featuring the same sturdy magnesium alloy build in a retro-style body and the same highly appreciated hybrid viewfinder. The only minor differences you’ll notice are the S in the logo, the RAW Q button, and the order of the focus options. Otherwise, the x100 and the x100s may as well be twins.

Take a trip into the inner workings of the x100s, however, and you’ll see why so much buzz has been surrounding its release.

A new NEX on the block: the Sony NEX-3N confirmed

20/02/2013 By Heather

We all knew that a new Sony NEX camera was in the works, but today, the NEX-3N, Sony’s newest addition to the NEX line, turned from substantiated rumour into reality.

According to sources such as Gizmodo and PetaPixel, the NEX-3N will be the smallest and most compact interchangeable camera with an APS-C sensor on the current market. A few interesting specs include the maximum 16000 ISO (which is high for a mid-range compact camera), the 180 degree tilting LCD screen, the 16.1 MP sensor, a pop-up flash, and the new zoom lever for smooth zooming.

The new Fuji x100s hits Japanese shelves

18/02/2013 By Heather

We here at MirrorLessons are terribly excited, and you should be too, as shipping of the new FujiFilm x100s has begun in Japan. According to Mirrorless Rumors, it will begin to ship in Europe and the Americas around mid-March. Can’t wait that long? Well, you could always take a look at eBay, where pre-sale x100s have been popping up all over the place. Of course, being a pre-sale item, Japanese resellers have hiked up the price in the hope that mirrorless camera fanatics worldwide (hey, don’t look at us!) will jump the gun and purchase one. Now all we are waiting for is the new Fuji x20. Hopefully, its release won’t be far behind the x100s.

11/02/2013 By Heather

Sony’s showing a lot of love for its NEX line with the rumoured released of the Sony NEX-3N, a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera with a 16 MP sensor and what appears to be an electronic zoom lever below the shutter button.

With the electronic zoom control, users will experience a smoother and steadier zoom, especially when they take videos. It is usable with both the 16-50mm and 18-200mm power zoom (PZ) lenses.
