The Mirrorless Camera Round-up: E-P5, E-PL6, G6, LF1 and more!

13/04/2013 By Heather

The Internet is currently flooded with news and rumors about new mirrorless cameras set for release in 2013. Since work and family commitments have stopped me from writing a post about each specific model, I’ve decided to sum up the news that has been deemed official here, in one post.

A Journey Through Venice: The Fuji X100s Review

06/04/2013 By Mathieu

Update: also check out our Mirrorless on the Job – Episode 2 about using the X100s for work.

I finally received my Fujifilm X100s last week, two days before leaving for Venice where Heather and I joined her parents for a quick Easter holiday.

After following all the fanfare surrounding the x100s on the Internet and reading a number of very good reviews, I was very curious to try the camera out for myself to see if all this enthusiasm really bore fruit. To try it out in Venice was an added bonus, as it is probably my favourite Italian city. I have decided to write this review in the form of a journal of our trip there, describing how I became increasingly confident with the camera and why I am enjoying it more and more each day.

I am aware that 5 days aren’t enough to write a complete and in-depth review, but since I’m planning to use it frequently, I will post more thought about it in the weeks to come. Ready? Time to chase down some gondolas!

The new Fuji x100s hits Japanese shelves

18/02/2013 By Heather

We here at MirrorLessons are terribly excited, and you should be too, as shipping of the new FujiFilm x100s has begun in Japan. According to Mirrorless Rumors, it will begin to ship in Europe and the Americas around mid-March. Can’t wait that long? Well, you could always take a look at eBay, where pre-sale x100s have been popping up all over the place. Of course, being a pre-sale item, Japanese resellers have hiked up the price in the hope that mirrorless camera fanatics worldwide (hey, don’t look at us!) will jump the gun and purchase one. Now all we are waiting for is the new Fuji x20. Hopefully, its release won’t be far behind the x100s.

Waiting for the Fuji X20, Fuji X100s

16/01/2013 By Mathieu

I admit I can’t wait to try the new Fuji cameras that were announced at CES two weeks ago. Except for the micro four thirds system developed by Olympus and Panasonic, I think that the Fuji’s X line has been the most interesting release so far with its hybrid viewfinder, X-Trans sensor and the quality of its lenses.

The Fuji X20 and X100s are the new versions of the acclaimed X10 and X100.

Looking back to the past to see the future…

07/01/2013 By Mathieu

In the past few years, there has been a large increase in interest in old-fashioned photography. I’m not talking about interest in the history of photography or well-known photographers of the past, but the fascination people have with the physical appearance of retro-style cameras and film. Though real historical brands like Kodak have almost disappeared, we try to reconnect with the past by using 70s-style designs to house modern technology.
