The Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro and MC-14 Teleconverter Complete Review

30/10/2014 By Mathieu

After shooting with the new Olympus professional zoom for more than two weeks, I can finally write the complete review about its performance and ease-of-use in a real world situation. You may have already read different articles here on MirrorLessons and you’ve probably seen lots of images and other reviews on the internet about this lens. Some of the thoughts written in this article are already present in my comparison between this lens and the Lumix 35-100mm f/2.8.

Olympus ED 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro and MC-14 Teleconverter – First impressions, images and video samples

06/10/2014 By Mathieu

Update: check out our complete review about the 40-150mm Pro!

After two hands-on videos, we can finally share a first impressions from the field about the highly anticipated 40-150mm PRO zoom lens. We received a sample to test a few days ago and I used it the very same night for a contemporary dance show. Then, the day after we paid a visit to the Stork and Anatidae Wildlife Center in Racconigi near Turin. In between, some pictures taken for random jobs allowed me to gather together some thoughts about the new telephoto zoom.

One zoom for every occasion – An Olympus M.Zuiko Pro ED 12-40mm f/2.8 review

04/08/2014 By Mathieu

While for my personal photography I prefer to use primes, I have no shame in admitting that a good zoom lens can be crucial for certain kinds of work. Since my photography assignments are mainly in the events category, it is a natural consequence that the M.Zuiko Pro 12-40mm very quickly became my lens workhorse on my OM-D E-M1.

A Walk in the Woods: In search of butterflies with the M.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8 macro

11/04/2014 By Heather

Despite the aches in my unaccustomed muscles, I knew I had to keep going. I had finally discovered one of the many steep woodland paths that wind up and around the notable colline (hills) of Turin. Though the unexpected solitude of the route made me trepidatious at first, I soon became mesmorised by the fauna and flora that had gone from dormant to thriving in a matter of days. The bustling city centre was only a stone’s throw away, but I felt as if I were wandering through a minute part of the world that the industrial hand of man had forgotten to touch.

M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.8 Review: A small yet capable prime from Olympus

18/02/2014 By Mathieu

A 50mm lens on 35mm format is the closest field of view we can get to the human eye. It is the focal length often found on the ideal kit lens for old SLR cameras and has always been one of the cheapest prime lenses you can buy for your camera (depending on the aperture). It is the standard lens by definition and you’ll most likely find it inside many a photographer’s camera bag. Up until now Micro Four Thirds users only had two options: the Panasonic Leica 25mm f/1.4 (equivalent to 50mm on MFT format), a great lens but expensive if you consider the system and the type of lens, and the Voigltänder Nokton f/0.95, a manual focus only lens that costs almost $1000.
