10 Awesome Professional Photographers Who Use Fuji X Cameras for Work

In our first post entitled 13 Amazing Professional Photographers Who Use Mirrorless Cameras on the Job, we met a wide range of professional photographers who all have one thing in common: they use one of the Fuji X, Olympus OM-D or Sony NEX system for work. These photographers either made the decision to drop their DSLRs for good, or chose to use mirrorless cameras in tandem with their other high-grade cameras in the professional sphere.

In this post, we’ve decided to specifically hone in on great professional photographers who use Fuji X series cameras for work.

Why? Because they appear to make up the largest group of converts from DSLR to mirrorless – an intriguing fact as the Fuji X series is still relatively new, has a less-varied lens roadmap than Olympus and Sony, and certainly isn’t without its flaws in terms of speed and autofocus.

Huddled at the end of a higgledy-piggledy road that likes to call itself the town of Glaslough is a secret plentiful in lush greenery, tranquil lakes, serene walks and a castle so grand and well-preserved that one might think it belonged to the Monarchy itself.

It was here at Castle Leslie, one of the most handsome castles-turned-luxury resorts in all of Ireland, that Mathieu and I had our first meeting with the Olympus OM-D E-M1. This blog, MirrorLessons, was born with a review of the OM-D E-M5, so it only seemed right that the first big photography event we attended be in honour of the E-M5’s big brother, the E-M1. It was as if we had come full circle.

During our wonderful stay with the Olympus team at Castle Leslie in Ireland, Olympus managers Toshiyuki Terada (Deputy General Manager), Jörn Fandrey (Department Manager, Marketing Communications) and Michael Guthmann (Product Manager) were kind enough to fit in an informal interview with Mathieu and me just before dinner. Sat in one of the many cosy sitting rooms in the main castle building, we put a series of questions to the managers, excited to discover more about the new OM-D E-M1 and the M.Zuiko PRO lens line-up, and what the future holds for Olympus.

The New OM-D E-M1: Olympus’ Biggest Announcement of the Year

The secret was originally leaked when a hidden link to an unreleased Engadget video file was discovered, but now it’s become official: the new Olympus OM-D E-M1 is real and ready to hit stores in early October. Not only, but a new M.Zuiko PRO 12-40mm f/2.8 zoom will accompany its release, and a 40-150mm f/2.8 will follow in 2014.

Looking at the official specs, the new OM-D will be a beautiful mix between the previous OM-D E-M5 and the new Pen E-P5, seasoned with a few new features of its own.

Fuji News Round-up: XF 23mm f/1.4 lens announcement & X100 firmware update

Photographers who shoot with interchangeable Fuji X series cameras will be thrilled to know that the Fujifilm lens road map is really beginning to unfold. Back in June, we saw the announcement of the fine Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 pancake lens, while today we encountered every street photographer’s dream lens: the Fujinon XF 23mm f/1.4 (35mm equivalent on a full frame camera).
